FACT!. . . According to the American Association of Pediatrics (AAP), human milk does not contain enough vitamin D to prevent rickets as well as other diseases. In November 2008, the AAP issued a new policy on babies and vitamin D. The 2008 report recommends a daily intake of vitamin D of 400 IU/day for all infants and children beginning in the first two months of life. For more information visit the American Academy of Pediatrics, http://www.aap.org/family/vitdpatients.htm, or the Centers for Disease Control at http://www.cdc.gov/breastfeeding/recommendations/vitamin_D.htm.
For an additional source of vitamin D for babies who are ready for finger foods, try our new HAPPYBABY PUFFS, the only organic baby snacks fortified with vitamin D as well as calcium and vitamin B. HAPPYBABY PUFFS are now available at Whole Foods Markets and amazon.com, search "HAPPYBABY PUFFS".

HAPPYBABY’s BABY DHAL
The success of the film Slumdog Millionaire prompted us to share our flavorful recipe for Baby Dhal, a mild and nutritious introduction to iron-rich lentils. One serving of Baby Dhal is an excellent source of iron, vitamin C and protein.
2 1/2 cups water
10 oz. lentils
10 oz. diced potatoes
6 oz. diced carrots
5 oz. cups carrot juice
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon coriander
Put water, lentils, potatoes aand carrots in large pot over low heat. Cook until the lentils become tender. Add carrot juice, olive oil, cinnamon nd coriander and blend until desired consistency is reached (use either a hand-held blender or pour in batches into a stationary blender).
Yield: about 35 one-ounce servings for baby.
